- Red Willow (also known as Polished willow) (fragilis f. vitellina ‘Bouton Aigu’) (The bark is ridged and grayish, sometimes they turn reddish with age. Twigs are reddish and flexible when young. Yellow flowers grow in drooping catkins. In female red willows, the catkins turn into tufts of cottony seeds)
- Flanders Red Willow (Salix Alba Vitellina x Fragilis) (Flanders red is a great basketry willow with a waxy skin. Rods grow up to 7 foot and the willow has a lovely red/green colour when freshly cut and will dry to an orange colour. Flanders red can also be used as an ornamental willow because of the strong orange colour.)
- Rouge Ardennais Willow (fragilis f. vitellina ‘Rouge Ardennais’) (Stems are orange at the base and red at the tips. Good for basketry and winter color.)
- Pink Delight Willow (Salix Hybrid Willow) (‘Pink Delight’ will be another fine entry into the roster of willows that provide perfectly pliable material appropriate for the craft of basket making. Dried stems are tawny reddish brown. – Ruddy red-brown stems are the perches for copious pink pussies.)

- Dicky Meadows Willow (also known as “Osier willow”) (Salix purpurea ‘Dicky Meadows’ purple willow) (Beautiful purple branches great for basketry)
- Cardinal Willow (fragilis f. vitellina ‘Cardinal’) Red and Yellow stems great for decoration and beautiful winter color.)
- Rubykins Willow, (Salix koriyanagi Rubykins) (S. koriyanagi is an osier-like erect shrub, up to 3m high, with slender, whippy, purple-reddish stems, slender leaves, up to 10cm long, which have an orange-red flush in spring and then become dark bright green above and blue-green beneath, and slender catkins, the males with orange anthers, in spring.)
- Blackskin Willow (Salix myrsinifolia ‘Blackskin’) (has superb shiny, black stems. The fresh black rods turn dark red, almost black when dried for basketry purposes. Blackskin Willow produces long thin stems that are great for fine basketry, and add black accents to any design. Coppice annually for more stem production. This shrub is used extensively for living willow structures due to its beautiful supple black stems, and dark green foliage. Its winter stems add great interest to the garden. Mix this black-stemmed willow with yellow-stemmed willows to make the best cut arrangements. Attracts bees. Fresh stem colour: black. Dry stem colour: dark red, almost black.)
- Meadow Willow (Salix petiolaris) (numerous slender stems often less than 1 inch diameter; typically at least some dark red branches; new leaves commonly with some rusty-colored hairs; hairy capsules 5 to 9 mm long on stalks up to 4 mm long; male flowers have 2 stamens. Both male and female flowers are subtended by a tiny, dark brown, rosy or bi-color bract covered in straight white hairs. It spreads only by seed, unlike many other Willow species.)
